Boart Longyear is seeking an experienced Human Resource Manager for Canada. As the Canadian HR Manager, you will provide leadership for Talent Acquisition, Compensation & Benefits, Employee Relations, Workforce Planning, Performance Development, Organizational Effectiveness, and Culture. Serve as key HR contact and partner to drive objectives and program implementation.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, HR or related field. Master’s degree a plus.

  • Minimum of 10+ years related HR experience

  • Minimum of 5+ years of management experience

  • 3+ years’ experience working with a unionized workforce

  • Strong working knowledge of Canadian labor law

  • Experience providing HR support within manufacturing environments

  • Strong negotiation skills

  • Strong analytical and project management skills with ability to handle multiple projects concurrently

  • Pension, Benefit and Disability management and administration experience

  • Excellent communication skills — written and verbal (both French and English would be considered an asset)

  • Comfortable with MS Office tools

  • Requires approximately 20% travel

Job Requirements:

  • Oversee the staffing requirements of the business. Develop strategy to source, hire and train key talent.

  • Plan human resource requirements in conjunction with other departmental managers

  • Develop and implement labor relations policies and procedures.

  • Play an active role in Labour Negotiations, grievance processes etc.

  • Advise and assist other departmental managers on interpretation and administration of personnel policies and programs

  • Build and maintain operational metrics for headcount, attrition, labor costs, overtime analysis, and other projects, as required

  • Manage and coordinate annual evaluation and wage increase process.

  • Manage and coordinate annual PDM (Performance) and OCR (Succession Planning) processes

  • Develop and lead proactive initiatives for recruiting, employee motivation, positive work environment, and retention.

  • Manage and conduct internal investigations/conflict resolution

  • Partner with management regarding all matters of compliance and disciplinary actions

  • Oversee, interpret, and administer company policies and workplace procedures

  • Other duties as required
