Job Description:

Are you looking for an adventurous opportunity and a gratifying career? The industry leader Boart Longyear Mechanic position is just for you. We are looking for individuals who like working with their hands and finds satisfaction in keeping drill rigs operational.

In this position you will gain valuable knowledge of our fleet of drill rigs and support equipment. Time will be spent both in the workshop and traveling to jobsites as required. Duties in the workshop will include training, equipment repairs and overhauls. Time spent in the field will be for routine maintenance on equipment and emergency breakdown repairs at various locations.

The Company has a unique ability to manufacture and deliver a variety of tooling, equipment and expertise direct to customers around the world. Boart Longyear conducts contract drilling services in more than 40 countries, and provides mining products to customers in over 100 countries.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Applicants should be eager to learn, be self-motivated and have a desire to become a team leader.

  • This person will perform a variety of duties designed to s ervice, repair and maintain Boart Longyear’s Fleet of underground drill rigs and support equipment.

  • Some of the repairs you will be performing include working an electric powered hydraulic systems, diesel powered hydraulic systems and achinery as well as high pressure pneumatic systems.

  • Must have the ability to diagnose hydraulic problems in equipment and be able to perform quick turnaround to get these rigs back in operation.

  • Electrical certification desired

  • Mechanic must be able to remain in a standing position for extended periods of time. You need to be able to lift your arms above shoulder level to install and remove broken or worn out components.

  • You must have skills in the care and use of hand and power tools and be able to manipulate these tools in areas of limited space.

  • You must be able to work safely without presenting a direct threat to self or others.

  • Perform routine maintenance of equipment

  • Must in able to work in adverse weather conditions

  • Be willing to travel

  • Must be able to work well with others and have a positive attitude

  • Must be able to communicate with supervisor, driller and safety personnel

  • Must be able to work with little or no supervision

Qualifications:

  • 2-3 years of mechanic experience

  • Must have hydraulic systems experience

  • Knowledge of high pressure air systems, i.e. screw compressors and boosters is a plus.

  • Knowledge of duplex and triplex mud pumps is a plus.

  • Electrical experience or certification is a plus.

  • Be able to lift 100 pounds frequently

  • Pass a drug screen

  • Pass a background check

  • Must have own tools

  • Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to attain a CDL

  • Must be able to be MSHA/OSHA certified

Education and Experience:

  • Requires a High School diploma, GED or equivalent
