Boart Longyear Drilling Field Supervisor - Surface Coring in Forrestfield, Australia

Job Description:

Boart Longyear has been a leading provider of drilling products and services to the global minerals industry for over 125 years. As the industry’s only integrated drilling services and products provider, we combine engineering excellence, global manufacturing facilities and the most experienced drilling services group in the business.

We are currently looking for experienced Drilling Field Supervisors and Project Leaders to join our team across several of our client sites. Candidates with a demonstrated history of working to strict safety and quality standards in a field leadership capacity are strongly encouraged to apply.

The successful applicants will have a mature attitude towards safety and possess a strong team-leadership focus. A passion for drilling and a hard-working attitude is essential. These positions are offering a 2:1 or 2:2 FIFO roster, servicing sites across our WA Surface Coring or Underground operations. Boart Longyear offers ongoing training and development opportunities as well as a competitive salary and bonus scheme.

Want to know a little more about the role? Day-to-day responsibilities include:

  • Providing safety leadership and assisting team members with the development of thorough risk assessments, critical control verifications and job safety analysis.

  • Ensuring all operations are conducted in line with relevant legislations and standards.

  • Provide ongoing coaching to develop your team; including addressing performance and conduct issues.

  • Coordinate and allocate work as required to meet drilling plans and run rates.

  • Ensuring mechanical availability of assets through basic maintenance, reporting process, and effective prestart and preventative maintenance schedules.

  • Liaise with the Project Leader regarding the progress of the drilling program.

  • Conduct reviews of employee performance.

  • Participate in toolbox and safety meetings and take immediate action on feedback.

  • Lead investigations of all incidents / hazard management issues.

A few other things we’re looking for:

  • Minimum of three years drilling experience at a Supervisory level

  • Proven leadership experience

  • Cert IV in Drilling Operations (Desirable)

  • Manual Drivers Licence

  • Training and Assessment Qualifications or relevant experience (Desirable)

  • Strong communicator and commitment to leading by example

  • Ability to undertake a pre-employment medical and provide a satisfactory National Police Clearance

  • Candidates must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, a Vaccine Digital Certificate/ Immunisation Record will be required.
