Job Overview
Boart Longyear is seeking a results-driven Production Supervisor to join our Manufacturing team in North Bay, Ontario. This position oversees daily operations on the shop floor, supporting a unionized workforce and driving continuous improvement in safety, quality, and productivity. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on leader with a background in machining, strong problem-solving abilities, and a commitment to excellence in manufacturing operations.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise and lead a unionized workforce in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Monitor employee attendance, manage timecards, and ensure accurate payroll submission.
Provide training and support to machine operators, promoting development and skill-building.
Champion Boart Longyear’s Lean Manufacturing initiatives and actively lead improvement projects.
Identify and implement process improvements to reduce cycle times and increase throughput.
Contribute to the maintenance and advancement of ISO certifications (ISO 9001/14000/18000).
Participate in and help facilitate monthly Quality and Safety meetings.
Maintain a safe, clean, and organized production floor aligned with EHS standards.
Troubleshoot equipment, programming, and machining issues as they arise.
Ensure full compliance with Ontario Health & Safety legislation and internal policies.

Physical and Environmental Conditions
Work Environment
Industrial manufacturing facility with rotating shifts (8, 10, or 12 hours).
24/7 operating schedule day and night rotational schedule
Exposure to machining equipment, tools, and moderate noise levels.
PPE required in designated areas (safety boots, glasses, hearing protection).
Lifting Requirements
Occasional lifting of materials or tools up to 50 lbs.
Standing and walking required throughout shift, along with occasional bending and reaching.

Qualifications
Education
Post-secondary education in Manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a related field preferred.
Experience
Minimum 5 years of hands-on machining experience required.
Prior supervisory experience in a manufacturing or machining environment.
Proficient in CNC programming and machine setup.
Familiarity with collective bargaining agreement (CBA) administration in a unionized environment.
Experience working within ISO-certified systems and supporting EHS standards.
Languages
English required (spoken and written).
French language skills considered an asset.
