Boart Longyear DS Warehouse Supervisor in Salt Lake City, Utah
The DS Warehouse Supervisor, to be based in Salt Lake City is responsible for managing the warehouse activities in an efficient way regarding inbound & outbound of the cargo , as well as keeping a high inventory accuracy and high safety standards. This includes inventory, non-inventory, assets and used materials and will work closely with the DS Material Managers, Fellow Import / Export Desk Agents, DS Operations, DS Maintenance and the Asset and Fleet Manager within the business. The position reports directly into the North America Field Order Desk Supervisor based in Salt Lake City
Success factors for this role will be consistent and predictable on-time shipping and receiving, visibility and order accuracy, reducing warehouse costs and the overall supply chain costs including carrying costs of inventory, providing exemplary customer service and demonstrating a sense of urgency to critical customer requirements. At all times they must also ensure compliance to Boart Longyear relevant policies and procedures.
This role is the coordination role between DS operations and the warehouse / supply chain team and they need to understand the customers’ expectations, defining these into agreed service levels and the measuring, monitoring and managing the results. The key to success for this role will be the pre-planning of all movements – Warehouse receiving, and coordination needs to be at the start of the process. This includes:
Obtaining shipping instruction from Drilling Services buyer(s);
Pre-shipment inspection requirements;
Packaging and loading requirements;
Cost and transit;
Transacting orders in the system
The responsibility of this role is to coordinate the collection of the appropriate information and or coaching / training those that need to provide this information to ensure the warehouse handling and transportation process flows smoothly. They will work closely with our internal customers and service providers and provide direct support for in-country movements as required.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Supervise the process of inbound and outbound of the goods, in order to get an efficient chain to improve the service of our internal customer
Supervise the picking and packing process. The orders must be dispatched timely and accurate
Manage claims to identity root cause analysis and take the corresponding action to reduce them.
Coordinate with our internal customers the prioritization of the orders and manage the transport route, if applicable.
Be compliance with the Legal and Corporate Safety measures using our THINK methodology and EHS standards to identify any risk and control and build a Safety Culture.
Performance Global safety check lists to ensure a Safety Culture in our warehouse and Lead Tier 1 (Pre start operating) meeting
Supervise receiving process to ensure the inspection is being done accurate detecting any discrepancy in the quantity or quality of the products.
Manage our internal inventory controls in an efficient way via blind Cycle counting or Full Stock Take.
Review the locators are being managed accurate
Guarantee the inventory is stored in the warehouse in a good condition and are secured
Analyze the warehouse supplies are request as per demand to avoid overstock or missing items that can affect the operation (crates, boxes, etc)
Manage 5’s to keep a good order and cleaning in the warehouse
Keep updated SOP of main activities to be able to train the team correctly and identify improvement in the process
Plan, evaluate, distribute and develop the warehouse team focus to achieve the goals of the Area
Run KPI’s of the Area to be able to evaluate the performance of the warehouse
Promote to build a Culture of Continuous Improvement
Perform additional tasks upon request according to the needs of the business.
Position Requirements :
3 – 5 yrs. demonstrated experience in supply chain, warehousing and material handling
Good understanding of transportation including road, ocean and air and managing oversize / out of gauge items. E.g. moving drill rigs:
A team player that knows how to work with people and connects well with other disciplines / functions;
Demonstrated proficiency in using first tier ERP software package. Oracle/SAP applications experience preferred;
Excellent communication, planning, organizing and coordination skills;
Good MS Office and IT systems skills;
Experience in the mining or related industry is preferred.
