Job Description:

Boart Longyear is seeking a Payroll Supervisor for its Salt Lake City Shared Service Center. The Payroll Supervisor is responsible for timely and accurate payroll processing for the US and Canada. This role ensures compliance with all payroll related regulations and ensures the accuracy of payroll accounting and reporting activities. Provides leadership and development to the payroll team located in the SLC SSC. This position reports to the Director - Finance Shared Services.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience required

  • 5+ years of extensive experience in the payroll area in a large, complex international company required

  • Experience coordinating internal and external audits, including audits by governmental and regulatory agencies

  • Extensive knowledge of payroll practice and relevant laws and regulations governing payroll, benefits and payroll taxes in the US and Canada

  • Experience with payroll accounting and General Ledger account reconciliations

  • Knowledge of accounting practices and HR laws and regulations

  • High attention to detail required

  • Ability to prioritize, handle multiple tasks simultaneously and meet established deadlines in a fast-paced environment required

  • Self-motivated, customer service-focused, detail oriented and flexible

  • Strong written and verbal communications skills in English required, French preferred

  • Ability to maintain privacy and confidentiality

Essential Job Functions/Duties

  • Reviews or prepares General Ledger account reconciliations of various payroll-related accounts for all US and Canada Operating Units

  • Reviews or prepares journal entries necessary for accurate payroll accounting

  • Reviews all entries and changes to personnel and payroll data for accuracy

  • Coordinates and manages monthly, semi-annual and ad hoc payroll accounting and reporting

  • Ensures timely and accurate payroll for all US and Canada employees

  • Recommends and implements payroll best practices

  • Understands personal strengths and weaknesses and works actively to support and provide opportunities for continual development

  • Highly motivated and able to work independently and as part of a small team

  • Embraces Boart Longyear values and aligns behavior with those values

  • Actively manages team performance to deliver high-quality results which adds value to the organization

  • Other duties as identified or assigned
